When it comes to relationships, Remy doesn’t mess around. After all, she’s learned all there is to know from her mother, who’s currently working on husband number five. But there’s something about Dexter that seems to defy all of Remy’s rules. He certainly doesn’t seem like Mr. Right. For some reason, however, Remy just can’t seem to shake him. Could it be that Remy’s starting to understand what those love songs are all about?
My Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥
I liked it but not as much as The Truth About Forever which is one of my favorites from the author. The book of course has the usual elements of Sarah Dessen’s novels - girl with some issues about her family or friends, then she meets the boy who she will fell in love with, or will help her get over those issues. Same, same. But what I liked about this one is that it’s an interesting read and it actually helped me cope with some things.
When I started reading this, I was having some issues with things (school, lovelife, etc.). So when I get to know Remy it’s like I want to be like her. Just carefree, mean, has control over her feelings. But then, it’s not easy being like her. When you have too much control over your feelings, you tend to ignore other people’s feelings and you become selfish and insensitive. Sometimes you have to open up with the possibility that when you care and love someone, you will get hurt. It’s better than feeling nothing at all and losing that someone.
The romance part of this book is lacking. I liked Dexter’s challenges, although sometimes I can’t figure out his personality. Overall, this was an easy read and just like other Dessen books, you get to learn something about love and life. :)

I’m pushing aside the memory of my nightmare,
pushing aside thoughts of Alex,

push,
like Raven taught me to do.
The old life is dead.
But the old Lena is dead too.
I buried her.
I left her beyond a fence,
behind a wall of smoke and flame.
My Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥
I suggest before reading Pandemonium better read the first book Delirium to know the story behind the deliria and how it affected the lives of the protagonists. Pandemonium is the second book of the Delirium Trilogy. I was actually excited to read this because I liked the first book and the cliffhanger there! Read my review here! :)
The book continued where it left off from the first book. This time the story went around the past (then) when Lena was in the Wild and the present (now) when she went back to the city to go undercover. Chapters switches between then and now, so we have a better glimpse of what really happened to Lena especially in the Wild. Well, I was confused at first in the change of events but was able to get it as I continue reading. For me the plot development was a little confusing and really slow. I was bored reading it that I was about to give up but didn’t really do it because I want to know what will happen.
The new characters introduced are quite interesting. I think that’s what I liked in the book. We’d also read a new Lena here - one who knows now how to fight and how to survive. She also has a new lovelife! Julian is not bad at all but we want Alex back! Hmm, the last part! I didn’t see that coming!
Overall, Pandemonium is not as good as the first one. But if you have read the first book and wants to know what happens next, read this! One book to go for this series! :)

It all ties to an evil place named Raven’s Gate - a place whose destiny is horrifyingly intertwined with Matt’s own. An ancient doom is about to be unleashed… and Matt is the only one who can stop it.
My Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I didn’t expect that I’ll enjoy Raven’s Gate. Thought it’s just another paranormal young adult book.
The book is about 14-year old Matt. He is an orphan and he lives with his aunt. His life with the aunt is quite miserable. Because of that, he gets involved in a crime he didn’t really intend to commit. That begins his life with a weird old lady who will never lets him out of her sight. His true identity will be revealed and adventures to keep himself alive and free starts.
The book is fast-paced. Just by reading a few pages of the first chapter will get you hooked. I think it’s because of Mr. Horowitz’ story telling. The book is very engaging and thrilling! When I bought the book a year ago, I wasn’t expecting for it to be this good. The plot is unique and the characters are well developed. And oh, the mystery will really keep you reading. I have a soft spot for mystery, suspense and supernatural.
Raven’s Gate is such a good read. Very engaging and will definitely make you want to read more of this series! :)

Ash, former prince of the Winter Court, gave up everything. His title, his home, even his vow of loyalty. All for a girl… and all for nothing.
Unless he can earn a soul.To cold, emotionless faery prince Ash, love was a weakness for mortals and fools. His own love had died a horrible death, killing any gentler feelings the Winter prince might have had. Or so he thought.
Then Meghan Chase—a half human, half fey slip of a girl— smashed through his barricades, binding him to herirrevocably with his oath to be her knight. And when all of Faery nearly fell to the Iron fey, she severed their bond to save his life. Meghan is now the Iron Queen, ruler of a realm where no Winter or Summer fey can survive.
With the (unwelcome) company of his archrival, Summer Court prankster Puck, and the infuriating cait sith Grimalkin, Ash begins a journey he is bound to see through to its end— a quest to find a way to honor his solemn vow to stand by Meghan’s side. To survive in the Iron realm, Ash must have a soul and a mortal body. But the tests he must face to earn these things are impossible. At least, no one has ever passed to tell the tale. And then Ash learns something that changes everything. A truth that turns reality upside down, challenges his darkest beliefs and shows him that, sometimes, it takes more than courage to make the ultimate sacrifice.
My Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
The last book of the Iron Fey series. I was so excited to read this because I loved the previous books. And I’m glad to have finally read it. Of course courtesy of NetGalley! :)
The Iron Knight started where the Summer’s Crossing left off. So I suggest you read Summer’s Crossing first. The book is in Ash POV so I expected it to be interesting. The story is about Ash’s quest to become mortal so that he can honor his vow to Meghan - and that’s to be with her in the Iron Realm. It’s kinda slow at first but as the story went it will keep you interested.
This final installment of the series will not disappoint you. It’s kinda refreshing to have Ash’s point of view. In the previous books, we saw him as a quiet guy who would always keep his feelings to protect himself. In this book, you’d know his true feelings and his true identity. Also, I like Grim and the Big Bad Wolf’s bickering! They really entertained me a lot in this book!
I was surprised with the twist! I don’t want to be a spoiler. I just didn’t see that coming. Initially, I thought that revelation will complicate things. But there’s a purpose why it happened. I’m not that satisfied with the ending! I want more!
I’d still say The Iron Knight is a really good ending for the series. Ms. Kagawa was able to capture us with this Faery series. Thank you and We want more right??

And Puck faces the ultimate choice—betray Ash and possibly win the girl they both love, or help his former friend turned bitter enemy pull off a deception that no true faery prankster could possibly resist.

I was hesitant to read Summer’s Crossing at first. Not because I don’t want to read it but I was just too excited to start The Iron Knight. Well, good that I read this first. I didn’t know it’s in Puck’s POV which you would expect to be fun.
Summer’s Crossing is a short story about Puck and Ash’s adventure to the Summer court. Ash has to keep the other side of the bargain so he’s forced to go to Arcadia with Puck’s help. However, Puck has to face a difficult decision whether to betray his friend or help him get through.
I think I liked this more than the other short novella. Of course because of Puck! I like witty and fun lines, and adventure that will keep me entertained. This short story gave me that. I’m guessing the purpose of this is for us to get to know Robin Goodfellow more and to let us know that even though the two are frenemies they would always be good friends!

With a war between the gods looming over campus, Ash must master the new fire smoldering within before she clashes with her sister one more time… And when warm and cold fronts collide, there’s guaranteed to be a storm.
My Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥
I decided to read this because of the cover. Looks really intriguing right? Just like the title, it’s pretty much a “wilde” read.
The book is about sisters Ashline and Evelyn Wilde. Both have some violent streaks that they sometimes couldn’t control and worse they are born with it. Eve is the runaway sister and won’t leave town until Ash goes with her. Ashline, after transferring to Blackwood Academy, discovers her true identity and finally gets explanation of what she and her sister had become. Ash will try to protect people she cares about and prevent people from dying due to Eve’s inescapable rage.
I did enjoy reading this. I think it’s because it has a unique concept of the usual gods and goddesses in young adult books. It’s take in mythology is interesting that would keep you reading til the end. Not to mention the action-packed scenes that may show extreme violence. The characters are likable and have their own identity that won’t keep you confused. There’s mystery in the story which I really like and that I had lots of questions about. I thought this isn’t a series until I saw on Goodreads that there would be a sequel. That’s good because the ending is very intriguing and I’d love to read the next books.
Wildefire is an engaging read. The author managed to get me hooked on the story because of the clear narration and witty lines.

But then Caleb and Maggie are forced together on a summer trip. They try ignoring their passion for each other, but buried feelings resurface. Caleb must face the truth about the night of Maggie’s accident, or the secret that destroyed their relationship will forever stand between them.
My Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥
I didn’t like this as much as the first one. But what I liked about it is the humor. Mostly of Lenny! That guy is uber disgusting but very entertaining. Giving this a 3-star rating because of him. hehe.
Even though it didn’t live up to my expectations, I still continued reading because I want to know what will happen to Caleb and Maggie’s relationship. I think the author missed the “wow factor” here unlike her other novels which I really liked. Some of the events in the story are not as moving just like the first one. Other characters seem likable but there’s not much development especially to the other girls on the trip. Then all of sudden Lea decides to turn herself in because someone just talked to her. There’s not much story on this which I think should have been a good part for the book.
I don’t think this is a good sequel for the first one, but if you want to know what happened to the two protagonists then read at your own discretion. : )

It’s a bleak and tortuous journey for Caleb and Maggie, yet they end up finding comfort and strength from a surprising source: each other.

My first review for the month! I’ve been a fan of Simone Elkeles’ writings ever since I read Perfect Chemistry a year ago. It’s not new to me how adorable her books are! But I’m always impressed whenever I read her books.
I liked the story of Leaving Paradise. The love story of an ex-con who falls in love with his victim is kinda new to me. I liked the character development and how the story went. It may be a little mushy at times but it still turned out good. Maggie’s character is admirable. She may be a timid girl because of her limp but she still manages to stand on her ground and take the risks. Caleb is one tough guy but with a soft heart. I think all of Miss Elkeles’ characters in her books are always likable. It’s because of how she described their personalities. The author always make it a point to describe their strengths and weaknesses.
Leaving Paradise is an interesting read and very engaging. And oh, another thing, I love the author’s titles for her books! Clever and intriguing! :)

Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that once love — the deliria — blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the governments demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Haloway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.
But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love.
My Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I didn’t know anything about this book before I read it. So I was surprised when I read the first sentence from the book. So intriguing! And I kept reading to know what this book is all about.
The book is about Lena Haloway. She is very much looking forward to being cured and living a safe, predictable life until she met Alex. Love has been declared as a dangerous disease and people of the right age should be cured. And after meeting Alex, Lena understands that an emotional connection to another person is something she’s always been missing — and now it’s something she won’t live without.
I enjoyed reading this. I was fascinated by the concept of love as a serious illness, that when you get infected, you should be cured. If only that’s possible when you have heart aches right? But indifference is a more serious condition. I think the book is more of a love story than dystopian. Well for me it came out good although some people have mixed feelings on this one. I liked the character development. From the “I want to be cured” Lena to the “In love” Lena. And of course the mysterious Alex. You would see how this has changed the whole point of the story.
This book made me realize… What if we really have a cure for love? Would you want to get cured and live a peaceful life or would you stay in love and bear the consequences? Oh well… one word for this, Sacrifice.
Delirium is a great start for a series. Good concept and such a nice cliffhanger at the end. I will definitely read the next book!

It’s hard not to notice Terra Cooper.
She’s tall, blond, and has an enviable body. But with one turn of her cheek, all people notice is her unmistakably “flawed” face. Terra secretly plans to leave her stifling small town in the Northwest and escape to an East Coast college, but gets pushed off-course by her controlling father. When an unexpected collision puts Terra directly in Jacob’s path, the handsome but quirky Goth boy immediately challenges her assumptions about herself and her life, and she is forced in yet another direction. With her carefully laid plans disrupted, will Terra be able to find her true path?
Written in lively, artful prose, award-winning author Justina Chen Headley has woven together a powerful novel about a fractured family, falling in love, travel, and the meaning of true beauty.
My Rating: ♥ ♥
I understand why people rated the book higher than what I rated it. The whole idea of the book about beauty is admirable and can make a great impact to teens. However, I just couldn’t bring myself to like the flow of the story and the emotions the book brings to its readers.
Terra’s ‘flawed’ face seems to be the center of the story. Not to mention the flawed family where she belongs. She also has a boyfriend who just like her because of her body and the mask she would always wear outside. That is, not until she met this Asian boy who will see her real beauty.
The story started a little slow. It also narrated some events that I think are not essential for the book. Those are the ones that made reading it somewhat boring. When I was already at the middle of it, I wanted to end it soon and start another book worth reading. I’m maybe harsh on judging this book but I felt that the readers don’t need more of the dad’s rudeness and the shallow characters who can’t look beyond what they see.
North of Beautiful is not a bad book at all but I wouldn’t recommend it. Unless you are one of those people who only like superficial beauty.

My Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥
This book is okay. It’s not like those books that will give you the ‘wow’ feeling but it will teach you some lessons in life.
So the book was about Sam, her love life, best friends and the last day of her life. How would you feel if you are to live the same day each time you wake up in the morning? It may be weird or exciting, but it can be boring as it repeats the events all over again. Well, I think that’s what I felt when I was reading the book. It was interesting at first but I got bored as I read on. However, the characters are likable and they reminded me of the movie Mean Girls. Four young ladies with different personalities but share the same hate for people they don’t like. Of course one of them is the good girl who will try to make things right.
Although I have lots of unanswered questions in my mind, still Before I Fall is a well written book that will move you and make you realize to live like it’s the last day of your life.

A love out of time. A spaceship built of secrets and murder.
Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.
Amy quickly realizes that her awakening was no mere computer malfunction. Someone-one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship-tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn’t do something soon, her parents will be next.
Now Amy must race to unlock Godspeed’s hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there’s only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming.
My Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥
Pretty good cover isn’t it? But don’t judge the book by its cover. There’s more to it than you’d think.
The book started a little intriguing. Amy and her parents are to be frozen inside this box that looks like a coffin to be sent on a mission. Three hundred and one years before they are supposed to be awaken, hoping to live a new life. Little did Amy know that when she wakes up, she will be on where she isn’t supposed to be.
These futuristic novels I’ve been reading interest me a lot. That’s one reason why I decided to read this book besides the beautiful cover which fooled me. While Across the Universe is one of those novels, it managed to capture it’s readers with it’s own unique stories of lies, leadership and love. There are frexing, brilly words that indicate the future settings but won’t leave you confused. The characters are okay. Not very much likable especially Eldest. I think the character development is not that impressive but can improve. The book is more of a science fiction and mystery. The romance part, well, we need more Elder and Amy romance! The book needs more of it so that it won’t be that serious.
I liked the premise of Across the Universe. It was still a good read for me although the whole idea can be terrifying. Read the book to know what I mean. I thought it is not a series. Well, it shows in Goodreads that there’s a sequel and it might still be about Elder and Amy. I have to read the next books to know what’s gonna happen to Godspeed!

ME?
A LEADER?
Okay, I did prove that there’s more to Inside than we knew. That a whole world exists beyond this cube we live in. And finding that led to a major rebellion—between worker scrubs like me and the snobby uppers who rule our world. Make that ruled. Because of me, we’re free. I thought that meant I was off the hook, and could go off on my own again—while still touching base with Riley, of course. He’s the one upper I think I can trust. But then we learned that there’s outside and then there is Outside.
And something from Outside wants In.
My Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I enjoyed reading Outside In and I didn’t really expect that I would. The dystopian genre appeal to me so much ever since I read a series in that same theme.
Trella is back on exploring air ducts but this time without the fear that she will be caught by the PopCops. The rebellion has ended and the Insiders have a new committee to lead them. What they don’t know is freedom might not be beyond their reach.
When I read the first book, Inside Out, I was impressed with the world building. The futuristic theme may be a usual one for a story but the author managed to create her unique stories for the series. I liked the character development. In this book, Trella’s character is admirable. You’d learn she’s not always as tough as we think but she also has her weaknesses and limitations. It’s good to read the development of Trella and Riley’s relationship. The new characters are introduced timely with respect to the events happening in the book. The conspiracies and conflicts are well written that you wouldn’t stop reading until you know who’s the real culprit.
Although there are parts that could be a little boring or should I say confusing with all the terms used in the book, Outside In is still a good sequel for the first book.

Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know…
My Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Well, what can I say? I have mixed emotions. I’m not sure if I love it or hate it. There were some parts that I totally love reading but some parts were just too much to bear!
The book has been on my shelf for months and I just couldn’t bring myself to read it. Maybe because of lack of time, or I just don’t want myself reading it only because of the hype it gets. Finally, I decided to read it since it’s vacation and I can read it without too much distractions like school. heh!
So it started out fine. It’s not like the other books that you will just judge based on the first few chapters. You have to keep reading to decide whether it’s a good read or not. After reading the first part, well, I was a little confused. Information overload! There were jargons from the world of Shadowhunters. I was like Clary, feeling confused. The book got better on the second part. I finally understood why the book’s title is City of Bones. It became more enjoyable especially with all the action-packed, romance and the “unraveling the truth” parts. Well there’s this one truth that I just don’t get. I think it’s stupid. It’s supposed to be tragic because of the feeling that has already arisen… I don’t want to spoil!!! oh, my favorite chapter is The Midnight Flower. :)
The characters are likable and well developed. Miss Clare is good in describing her characters. Clary is one tough chick. If I was the one who can see creatures I’m not supposed to see, I’d totally freak out! And then we have Jace, the lovable Jace. Girls are swooning over him. Not the girls from the book okay! I think it’s because of how Jace’s personality was introduced in the book. Quite arrogant but still lovable.
The reason why I have mixed feelings on this one is because of the story building. The whole concept is good but some parts are irrelevant in my opinion. The twists about the characters, hmm not great. Surprising yes, but I think they totally ruined the reader’s imagination. I don’t know. It’s quite hard to explain. In Filipino, if you read a good twist you’d say, “Aaah, kaya pala ganun!” but a bad one would be “Nyeh ano kaya yun!?”. I’m out of my mind.
Reading City of Bones was like a roller coaster ride. It has it’s ups and downs, twists and turns. I guess it was still an enjoyable ride. :)

My Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥
I was surprised how dark this book is! Based on the summary, it would be full of action and I guess adventure. But it seems that there’s more to the story that we should find out.
The book started a little slow. It took a few chapters before I get enthusiastic about it. Ellie is clueless about her true identity untill she meets Will. What she doesn’t know is that she has an important role to play to save this world.
I like the concept of angels and demons here. Such a great idea. I haven’t read anything about angels in a while so this is a good start. Ellie’s character looks like a weakling at first but when action takes place, you’d know that she’s a kick-ass heroine. I love Will’s character. He’s only not good looking physically. The way he expresses himself and the way he fights, he’s so admirable. His mysterious character would want you to read the book constantly to find out more things about him.
There are certain events that didn’t really interest me at all. There are lots of actions going on but don’t really answer the questions I have at the back of my mind. The book has this great concept but needs more elaboration. Well since this is a series, maybe the answers to my questions are on the succeeding books. Oh, I love the cover!
Angelfire is action-packed and well written. The information you’ll learn in the book, especially towards the end, is quite astonishing. Will definitely read the next books in the series!

I don't give too much spoilers on my reviews. I just share what I felt, thought and loved about the books. I like any kind of genre depends on my mood. Currently I'm into young adult books of any genre.
